Strategy use to find seminal paper
Search the topic on ISI Web of knowledge and IEEE Explore the paper which has maximum number of citations is principle paper. This principle paper is then passed through relevance filter to check that whether it is related to topic or not. If it is relevant then it is principle paper otherwise select relevant paper. Now check the references of this paper then reference which has maximum number of citations and related to topic is seminal paper.
The methodology used to find the seminal paper is show in schematic way below
Literature search
First the ISI web of knowledge and then IEEE Explore is used in the literature search. By using keywords of "Cloud computing OR fault tolerance a total of 2483775 ISI web of knowledge and 7486 IEEE Explore results were revealed. These results include both the broad categories of aerodynamics and insects as shown in figure 1.

In order to refine the results, Boolean function AND was used instead of OR. By doing this a notably refined search revealed 30,750 ISI web of knowledge results, 5319 and 7486 IEEE Explore. The schematic diagram of "AND results is shown in figure 2. The results revealed are in the order from today to backward date.

The results are sorted based on citation category in order to find the seminal work in the field. The most cited paper [1] covers the basic of cloud computing that the long-held dream of computing as a utility, has the potential to transform a large part of the IT industry, making software even more attractive as a service and shaping the way IT hardware is designed and purchased. Developers with innovative ideas for new Internet services no longer require the large capital outlays in hardware to deploy their service or the human expense to operate it.
The most cited paper is selected and referred as principle paper. Then its references are evaluated to trace down to find out the seminal paper. This principal paper has 19 references and in Isi web of knowledge the citations of reference paper is also given in ISI web of knowledge.
The most cited paper [2] is out of 19 references and it is cited 457 times.
