Museum of Art at Mobile, Alabama, 498 words essay example

Essay Topic:art,museum

During my Excursion, I was able to visit the Museum of Art at Mobile, Alabama. The museum is located at a place called 'Mobile' in Alabama. The museum contains and carries very interesting pieces of art that accrue from Europe, America and the southern end of the United States. The museum also has pieces of art from the non-western parts of the world like Egypt and Oriental China. The Museum carries out programs of an exhibition that range from the historical to the temporary art culture. The museum carries a variety of educational programs.
I learnt a bit about the history of the museum by asking some questions to the attendants that were available to answer all of our questions. I asked them questions like when the museum was founded, who founded the museum and the motivation behind the foundation of the museum in the sense that what it was exactly that the founders hoped to achieve by the foundation of the museum. I got some very useful responses, for instance, the museum was founded in the year 1969 and was founded by the mobile art association. The museum was founded to serve as a mobile museum of art for the area of Southern Alabama. The museum is part of the Langan Park, that is owned by the city of Alabama and it was lucky to be a beneficiary of a $15 million expansion deal in the year 2002, and the expansion was engineered by the architects group of Mobile. The museum now covers an area of 95,000 feet. It is very expansive and exciting I could never get enough of walking around and gazing at things I awe and wonder. The attendants showed me a plaque that shows the membership of the museum to the reciprocal museums program of the North America.
The museum has got a host of travelling and permanent collections. I was able to see the Chinese Bronzes that were a part of the collection of Inger Duberman and David. The artwork is a sculptor of a man seated with the legs folded in the middle. I asked and was told that the artifact was made from Chinese clay, and it arrived from ancient Chinese history during the Qing dynasty rule in the 1800s when the Americas were engaging in trade with the Chinese. About the moral significance or its contribution to the culture of ancient China, I was told that the artifact was one of the most significant items that survived in the ancient China's Bronze History. The artifacts are a timer in the sense that they form a part of people's age. Therefore, some people can be known to have been born before the age of Bronze or after the age of bronze. There was the Dou, which is typically a vessel for food, a flat bowl, there was the Ding, a vessel for cooking and storing meat, and I saw the Yi, which was used in the ancient China dynasties as vessels for performing sacrifices.
