West Egg is where the "new rich" live that are those who have made so much money after World War 1.(4b) Presenting the novel as unusual, it seems like they don't know what to do with all that money that they have. This is a clear view of the heavy amount of materialism which was the result of pursuing the American Dream.
East Egg is totally different from West Egg because those living in East Egg are known of coming from family with money. These people present themselves as to have class, dignity, and manner. which is what lacks in West Egg. The people in west egg are no better than the other people who live in East Egg. (5a) When Tom and Daisy break up things, they step back into their money. (6) Making a mess, Daisy and Tom let others take blame for what they did.
A symbol used to picture the American Dream, is the green light at the end of Daisy's and Tom's dock. Its Gatsby's inspiration and goal when he was poor.
