Organizational culture is the culture starts with leadership which values, principles, behaviour or activities can let the organizational members to learn it. Culture can be divide to social and organizational culture but we can category into one where in an organization we also involved social relationship. For example, there have consistent way to solve a certain problem, resolving conflicts, inter department interaction even to customers, and consistent in performing tasks. Every company have their own organizational culture, operation structure, own business strategies, own theoretical principles and managements. So, Genting Malaysia Berhad have different business management and strategies to increase their staffs and product quality.
Genting's leisure and hospitality segments included hotel, gaming or entertainment, property investment, and tours and travel and other support services. Since Genting included many segments there are a part of principles they looking for involve into their management. The principles used in Genting Malaysia Berhad are stability of staff, discipline, authority, the hierarchy, and equity. These all of the principles helpful in manage the big business of Genting which make those principles into consideration of the organizational members from their behaviours and activities.
Stability of staff refers to mobility of staff which how long a staff stay in the same workplace and how often staff leaves. The longer the staff working in the same position, the staff will get the chance to promote to higher position. Genting Malaysia Berhad reached 13300 Malaysian workforce at the year 2014 (Annual Report, 2014). Providing of training and development programmes, education funds, regulation, and safety and health procedure are the point to attract more of the staffs stay longer in their current workplace. This is because Genting provide chances to all the staffs get promotion to higher position at every year. It means that each of the staff also have the same chance to get the promotion through training programme. Beside than that, staffs were enjoyed the sports, wellness programmes, motivational talks and cultural activities held by company. This is match to the culture of Genting on a balanced work-play-live environment to the staffs (Annual Report, 2014).
Discipline refers to the obedience, proper conduct in relation to others, respected of authority and so on. It is helpful in smooth the functioning of all organizations. It is apart of culture inside the organization. According to Maria Kuteeva and Raffaella Negretti (2016) each discipline has its own goals and assumptions as to what constitutes knowledge (ontology) and how this knowledge is obtained (epistemology). For example, at Genting Highlands the hostel for staffs separate into male and female hostel. Male (female) staffs are not allow go to the female (male) hostel. The main purpose to set this rule is to prevent the happening of sexual harassment. Moreover, Genting Highlands strongly stick to the rule which employee must punctual to their working time and those late for working without acceptable reason will receive a warning letter. This is a motivation and also encourage the staffs be punctual to work and train them increase their self-discipline.
