"How did your get all those scars on your face?" called out one of the children I was tutoring. Then I brought them back to when it all happened. I was always the big bundle of joy in my family Well, along with my sister Jewel. It was just jewel and my oldest sister Alivia. Then, I was born. I was the happiest toddler anyone had come to know. I had just turned two, small and carefree. I was doing the one thing everyone in my family thought was so funny. There I sat in the kitchen drawers, dancing along to my favorite band The Wiggles. "BOO," yelled Jewel as she attempted to scare me. It worked I was startled! I was so startled that I raised my hands up and accidently knocked over a pot of boiling water that was sitting on the stove. The pot was heavy, due to the fact it was a stock pot which contained a whole lot of water. The water splashed on my face and I felt the steaming water sizzle. I closed my eyes as tight as could and heaved a scream- the loudest you've ever heard.
Before I knew it, I was laying on the blue sheets of the hospital bed. The doctor told my family I had second-degree burns. I felt fine. It must've been the drugs that made me feel that way. I sat in the hospital, watching my most-liked tv show. I don't know what it was about Curious George, but it made me smile and most importantly, it took my mind off of everything that went on that day. At last I was discharged from the hospital. I was in the hospital for a couple of days and I was happy to be going home. When I arrived, my beloved grandmother was waiting for me in the living room. My heart filled with happiness and delight. I ran to her and gave her a humongous bear hug as she wished me well. In her hand, she held the best oatmeal cookies ever. They were my favorite, so I snacked on them the rest of the night. I savored every bite because her cookies were delicious although each chew made my face feel as if it were in more pain.
I grew up the next three years playing with family because kids my age were afraid to play with me, due to the burn scars on my face. I didn't mind it at all. I loved playing sports, even though half the time I didn't understand what I was doing. The one thing I looked forward to every year on my birthday was the party. I enjoyed having so much fun and receiving gifts. Each party was a different theme, which made every one of them unique, but the one thing they all had in common was my favored game Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Christmas time was the most magical time of the year for me.
