Unmanned space probes designed by NASA Essay

Unmanned space probes designed by NASA, 500 words essay example

Essay Topic:space

A space probe is an unmanned spacecraft designed to explore space and gather scientific information. A probe can be operated far away from earth and it may orbit or land on a planet. Most probes transmit data from space by radio. There are many probes out there because all are designed to study different environments. Unmanned probes are better because they are not very expensive like manned spacecraft. Manned spaceflight is very expensive and dangerous. Humans need oxygen, food supplies and other equipment's which increase the cost. NASA should send probes to Mars because probes are not vulnerable to any radiation in space and probes don't need to wear suits or need oxygen. Unmanned space probes are able to collect more important and useful information which humans cannot collect. Another reason space probes are better because humans require oxygen, suit, lot of technology and it is very dangerous for humans due to completely different atmosphere of every other planet. According to Steven's point of view, spaceflight should not end because if there is sudden global warming, nuclear war or unknown danger we might have to migrate to another planet.
NASA design and send unmanned probes in space because they are cheaper to make, they don't need to carry food, water or oxygen and they can live in any atmosphere. Although it is very difficult to repair probes due to the long distance from the Earth and there is no human on Mars to repair probes. If probe gets destroyed in space, NASA don't have to worry about it brings back but if

human dies NASA have to bring them back to Earth which is really hard. NASA can remotely control probes and give commands, unlike humans who have to wait for instructions from NASA. Probes are capable of taking pictures which humans cannot take and send information through radio.
Another reason why it is dangerous to send humans in space is risk of death due to the different atmosphere of other planet. Astronaut suits might tear in space and carbon dioxide can mix with oxygen which can kill astronauts. If humans go to Mars, then they have to come back, but not rovers, they can stay in space as long as they keep working without any issues. Manned space shuttle can explode if there is leakage or some electrical short-circuit or fuel can run out. Rovers have solar panels which give them enough power to keep them going. Weather in space can change at any time, it can change to stormy which will create a problem for the space shuttle and astronauts. "Another risk for humans is the exposure to radiation during the trip, and even to some extent while on Mars. There are two kinds of radiation that are damaging to humans High energy electromagnetic radiation, and particle radiation. Electromagnetic radiation includes radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and gamma-rays" (Manned or Unmanned?). There is a lot of radiation, which is dangerous to astronauts.
