Essay Topic:risks

Chapter 17.1
1.
What are Red Bulls greatest strengths and risks as more companies (like CocaCola, Pepsi, and Monster)
enter the energy drink category and gain market share?
The greatest strength that Red Bull has is marketing to young people. Young people are
always willing to try something new and it works miracles for people who are tired too.
Also there will always have another generation of new people so Red Bull do not need to
worry about losing customers because they will gain some more in the future. As more
companies enter the energy category, Red Bull might face competition because there are
other brand of energy young people can turn to. Also Red Bull carries just a few products,
while their competitors have a much bigger varieties of drinks.
2.
Should Red Bull do more traditional advertising? Why or why not?
Red Bull should continue their traditional advertising because they have been doing this
for a while and it has been successful. Young people still look at traditional advertising
for example when young people go out they would probably spot a build board when
they are in traffic or when they listen to the radio Red Bull can also target people in the
house too with TV Ads. i feel that today young people do not really look at online ads
because young people learn to download ad blockers, so they would not even see it. Also
online advertising might annoy young people because they do not want text ads
spamming their phone or email, and having block up its like an obstacles when you click
on a page you just want to relax and enjoy the internet.
3.
Discuss the effectiveness of Red Bulls sponsorships, for example, Bull Stratos. Is this a good use of Red
Bulls marketing budget? Where should the company draw the line?
Red Bull did a good job at sponsoring it allows people to see their logo at different place
and might make their audience want some Red Bull. Sponsoring events where young
people are usually there such as schools and clubs, this is a form of advertising to young
people because they can spread the word about Red Bull. I think Bull Stratos is a good
use for advertisement and for their good market budget. When Bull Stratos jump off that
ship, it gave young people a dream to look forward to, that they can do anything by
having the Red Bull sign, it is like Red Bull supports your dreams and one day they will
succeed. Young people have dreams hope and aspiration to do what they have never been
done, so when Bull Stratos jump and landed safely, this was a sign that anything is
possible. Red Bull associated with people who do the things that are impossible. I dont
think that Red Bull should not draw the line of selling to their young audience because
selling a dream to young people will allow Red Bull to gain more fame and awareness.
