But most of the people don't know how dangerous their custom can be. Here it is explained why and how kissing your baby on the lips can be harmful to the child.
According to many psychologists, kissing on the lips is a gesture that portrays affection that naturally comes from elders to children. But the medical science states that it is not at all safe for the child, because by kissing, the parent is allowing the infection to transmit into the child. Disease specialists say that kissing on the lips can be a vital reason for transition of diseases. The diseases can be cytomegalovirus, meaning that these viral diseases spread through saliva and it can be transferred via a simple kiss or sneeze covering your forearm.
Mononucleosis Also known as the "kissing disease", this disease is under the herpes category. It can be easily transmitted through drinking fluids from the same glass, kissing, and sharing common foods.

It is recommended that if any person in the family is suffering from any kind of periodontal disease, then other family members are prone to get infected, thus proper check up is required for all the members. Common acts like kissing, sneezing, sharing utensils, coughing etc are usually regular affairs in families.
Any baby who is less than 3 months, does not have a very strong immune system and can easily experience problems from getting exposed to it, which includes infection in the eyes, skin infection and complications in the organs.
