Biography of Albert Einstein Essay
Albert Einstein was an unbelievably smart physicist, a scientist that studies physics, who is well known throughout the world for his relativity equation, E=mc2. In 1921, Mr. Einstein was award-ed a Nobel Prize in Physics for his theory,The Photoelectric Effect. So, he literally became fa-mous overnight with his theory of relativity by winning the Nobel Prize.
Not Always Genius, Not Always Famous, or so He Seemed
Einstein was born in Ulm, Wurttemberg, Germany on March 14, 1879, to a middle class Jewish family. Einstein had what was thought to be speech problems at a young age, that he soon grew out of. Near the end of the 1880's he was tutored by Max Talmud.Talmud introduced Albert Einstein to a children's science textbook which encouraged Einstein to dream about the natures of light. During his teens he wrote his first major paper, "The Investigation of the State of Aether in Magnetic Fields." Einstein was eventually able to gain admission into the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich, because of his amazing math and science scores on the entrance exam.
He still had to complete his high school education though, and attended a high school in Aarau,
Switzerland. Einstein stayed with the school master's family. Einstein later got rid of his German citizenship and became a Swiss citizen. When he was at school in Zurich, Einstein found long lasting friendships and alliances, he also met his future wife, Mileva Maric. After graduating from Polytechnic, Einstein faced challenges in finding a job. Einstein continued to grow closer to Maric, but his parents were against the relationship. Einstein continued to see her. In 1902 the couple had a daughter, Lieserl, who disappeared from history. Einstein eventually got a job in 1902 after getting a clerk position in a Swiss patent office. Einstein's father passed away shortly after, and the young scientist married Milena Maric on Jan. 6, 1903. The couple went on to have two sons, Hans and Eduard. The marriage would not be a happy one, though, with the two divorcing in 1919. Einstein agreed to give Maric any money he might receive from possibly winning the Nobel Prize in the future. He also had wed his cousin Elsa Lowenthal.
Theories and Ladies
When he was working at the patent office, Einstein had the time to think about further ideas that had taken hold during his studies at Polytechnic. That is what would be known as the principle of
relativity. In 1905 Einstein had four papers published in the Annalen der Physik.
The four papers focused on the photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, the special theory of relativity and the matter, energy relationship, taking physics in a stunning direction. In his fourth paper, Einstein came up with the equation E=mc2, energy equals mass times the speed of light squared, stating that tiny particles of matter could be changed into giant amounts of energy, leading to the development of atomic power. In 1921, he won the Nobel Prize for physics for his discovery of the photoelectric effect.
